Meet Jeremiah

Jeremiah Cioffi is an incident response and data privacy attorney with a focus on helping our clients prepare for and respond to cybersecurity incidents while navigating state, federal, and global data privacy regulations.

Before joining Octillo, Jeremiah served as a cybersecurity legislative analyst in the Directorate of Cyber and Technology Security within the Bureau of Diplomatic Security at the Department of State. He advised on emerging cyber policy, legislative initiatives, and executive oversight – experience he now brings to advising clients facing data breaches, privacy concerns, and complex regulatory compliance matters.

Prior to this role, he served as a judge advocate for six years and an intelligence officer for three while on active duty in the U.S. Army. He was a keen advisor on hundreds of criminal and administrative investigations, ensuring investigators were following important privacy rules to protect Soldiers and their families. He also advised the Army Criminal Investigation Division’s Freedom of Information Act/Privacy Act team.

Today, he continues to serve in the U.S. Army Reserve as a defense counsel and holds the rank of Major.

Jeremiah holds a J.D. from Vanderbilt Law School, and recently earned his M.A. in Strategy, Cybersecurity, and Intelligence from The Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies. He is a member of the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP).
