New York., November 16, 2022 – Octillo, a woman-owned, technology-driven law firm focused exclusively on incident response, data security and privacy compliance, and litigation, is pleased to welcome seasoned incident response and data privacy law attorney, Sameer Ponkshe, to its growing Incident Response and Compliance Advisory practices.
The Octillo Incident Response team helps organizations navigate the complexities of responding to cyber-attacks, including ransomware, malware, business email compromise, fraudulent wire transfers, and spoofed websites. As a part of this team, Mr. Ponkshe will counsel clients through all the stages of a suspected or actual data breach - from detection to eradication, crisis communications, and analyses of notification requirements under the Global Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA)/California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), and other data security and privacy regulations.
In addition to handling ongoing cybersecurity matters, Mr. Ponkshe will also perform pre-breach services, such as data mining, risk assessments, and incident response plan drafting and implementation to help clients prepare for today’s ever-changing cyber threat landscape.
“Octillo’s Incident Response team prides ourselves on providing responsive and thorough support to organizations when they need it most,” says Octillo Partner and Incident Response Team Lead, Dan Greene. “Sameer’s knowledge and experience as a breach coach will be of tremendous value to our clients who are navigating a cybersecurity incident.”
In discussing his decision to join Octillo, Mr. Ponkshe explained, “One of many things that drew me to Octillo was the opportunity to be a part of a fast-growing, woman-owned firm that is innovative, future-focused, and progressive. From the team’s focus on understanding clients’ businesses objectives and goals to their cross-practice group collaboration and out-of-the-box solutions, Octillo feels like a true culture-shift from traditional law firms.”
Prior to joining Octillo, Mr. Ponkshe served as Senior Counsel at a large, national law firm, where he acted as a breach coach for organizations across numerous industries and jurisdictions. He has considerable experience drafting and reviewing data privacy policies and procedures, as well as data licensing and cross-border privacy contractual agreements and advising on current data protection best practices.
